Before you start: be on WiFi, on iOS 15 or later (Settings → General → Software Update), and have the QR from your Telekonek order email open on a second screen.
Step by step
- Open Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code. Point your iPhone camera at the QR.
- iPhone prompts "Activate eSIM?". Tap Continue.
- Label the line (e.g. "Telekonek Japan") so you can find it later. Tap Continue.
- Choose your default line: keep your home number primary for iMessage and calls. Pick the Telekonek eSIM for Cellular Data.
- Settings → Cellular → tap the Telekonek line → toggle Data Roaming ON. This step is critical — without it, your data won't activate when you land abroad.
Doing it before you fly
We recommend installing on your home WiFi before you leave. Leave the Telekonek line off until you land, then toggle on. Saves you from hunting WiFi at arrivals.
If it fails
If the QR scan succeeds but the line stays inactive, your iPhone is most likely carrier-locked. Contact your home carrier to request unlock — typically 2–3 business days. See Carrier-locked phones.
